OUR HISTORY
Bank of India was founded on 7th September, 1906 by a group of eminent businessmen from Mumbai. The Bank was under private ownership and control till July 1969 when it was nationalised along with 13 other banks.
Beginning with one office in Mumbai, with a paid-up capital of Rs.50 lakh and 50 employees, the Bank has made a rapid growth over the years and blossomed into a mighty institution with a strong national presence and sizable international operations. In business volume, the Bank occupies a premier position among the nationalized banks.

There are 45 branches/ offices abroad which includes 23 own branches, 1 representative office and 4 Subsidaries(20 branches) and 1 joint venture.
OUR PRESENCE
The Bank came out with its maiden public issue in 1997 and follow on Qualified Institutions Placement in February 2008.
While firmly adhering to a policy of prudence and caution, the Bank has been in the forefront of introducing various innovative services and systems. Business has been conducted with the successful blend of traditional values and ethics and the most modern infrastructure. The Bank has been the first among the nationalised banks to establish a fully computerised branch and ATM facility at the Mahalaxmi Branch at Mumbai way back in 1989. The Bank is also a Founder Member of SWIFT in India. It pioneered the introduction of the Health Code System in 1982, for evaluating/ rating its credit portfolio.
Presently Bank has overseas presence in 15 foreign countries spread over 5 continents – with 47 branches/offices including 4 Subsidiaries, 1 Representative Office and 1 Joint Venture, at key banking and financial centres viz., Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Paris, New York, DIFC Dubai and International Banking Unit (IBU) at GIFT City Gandhinagar.

Shri Rajneesh Karnatak has assumed charge as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Bank of India on 29th April, 2023. He was Chief General Manager of Punjab National Bank until his appointment as Executive Director in Union Bank of India from October 21, 2021. He is a post Graduate in Commerce (M.Com) and is a Certified Associate from Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).
Shri Karnatak has a rich banking experience of over 29 years and carries varied branch and Administrative office experience. As General Manager in erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce, he has headed Large Corporate Credit Branches and verticals such as Credit Monitoring, Digital Banking and Mid Corporate Credit. Post the amalgamation of Oriental Bank of Commerce into Punjab National Bank, he has also headed Credit Review & Monitoring Division and Corporate Credit Division in Punjab National Bank.
Shri Karnatak has attended various training and Leadership Development Programs from IIM-Kozhikode and JNIDB Hyderabad and has also taken part in Advance Management Programme at IMI (International Management Institute) Delhi & IIBF (Indian Institute of Banking & Finance). He was a part of 1st batch of Senior Officers selected by Banks Board Bureau for Leadership Development Program of IIM Bangalore & Egon Zehnder. He carries with him credit appraisal skills including project funding & working capital funding along with Risk Management with specific reference/ special emphasis on Credit Risk.
Shri Karnatak has served as Non-Executive Chairman of UBI Services Ltd., on behalf of Union Bank of India. He has also served as Non Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of UBI (UK) Limited. He was a member of the Governing Board of Indian Institute of Bank Management (IIBM) Guwahati. He has served as Nominee Director on behalf of Punjab National Bank on the Board of PNB Housing Finance Ltd., and India SME Asset Reconstruction Company Limited. He also served as Board Trustee on IAMCL (IIFCL Asset Management Co. Ltd).

Shri P R Rajagopal, aged 53 year is a commerce graduate and Bachelor in Law (BL). He started his career in Bank of India as an officer in 1995 and become Senior Manager in 2000. Seconded to Indian Banks' Association as Legal Adviser and was with IBA till 2004 till repatriation to Bank of India. He joined Union Bank of India in 2004 and elevated to the rank of General Manager in the year 2016. On elevation to the position of Executive Director, he joined Allahabad Bank on 01.03.2019

During his professional journey of over 32 years, he has extensive exposure of Corporate office and field level banking. He was Zonal Manager of Dharmapuri, Pune and Chennai North Zone. He was Field General Manager Delhi controlling 8 zones. He has successfully headed the Recovery and Legal Department at Head Office.
He was also on the Board of Tamil Nadu Grama Bank which was formed as a merged entity of two RRBs namely Pandian Grama Bank, a subsidiary of Indian Overseas Bank with Pallavan Grama Bank, a subsidiary of Indian Bank.

He successfully handled the responsibilities such as Regional Head, Patna, Head of Treasury Management, Audit & Inspection, Credit Monitoring & Corporate Credit. Dr. Bhushan Kumar Sinha , was appointed as Government of India Nominee Director in Bank of India from 11.04.2022.
He belongs to the 1993 batch of Indian Economic Service. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the National Graduate School of Management (NGSM), Australian National University, Canberra, Australia and a Ph. D from the Department of Financial Studies, University of Delhi, India.
Presently he is posted as Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, New Delhi. Before joining DFS in 2018, he had a three year stint as Economic Adviser in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM).
He was on the Board of Central Bank of India as GOI’s Nominee Director w.e.f 14.05.2018 till 11.04.2022.
Besides Bank of India, he is also GoI’s Nominee Director on the Board of Directors of IFCI Ltd.

Shri Ashok Narain retired as Chief General Manager, Department of Supervision, Reserve Bank of India in 2022 after 33 years of service including about 18 years in supervisory regulatory domain. He led several on-site examination of banks and also shaped the development of off-site supervision of commercial banks and urban cooperative banks.
He was entrusted to implement Enterprise wise Risk Management for the RBI and he also guided the development of ERM architecture for the Central Bank Sri Lanka. He was nominated by RBI in various national and international working groups, as well as a member in the board of private sector commercial bank. He represented the RBI as a member of international Operational Risk Working Group (IORWG) 2014-16 the G20-OECD Task Force on Financial Consumer Protection (2017 and 2018) and as co-lead of Non-Banking Financial Institutions team (for credit institutions) of the Non-Banking Monitoring Expert Group of Financial Stability Board Basel during 2019-22.
He is empanelled by the International Monetary Fund as a Financial Sector Specialist since 2022.
He has assumed office w.e.f.14.07.2023.

He is having more than three decades of professional banking experience in (e) Oriental Bank of Commerce and Punjab National Bank with extensive exposure in many important areas of banking including Forex, Corporate Credit, Human Resource and as Branch Incumbent, Regional Head, Cluster Monitoring Head, Circle Head, and Zonal Manager.

OUR CODE OF CONDUCT
Code of Conduct attempts to set forth the guiding principles on which the Bank shall operate and conduct its daily business with its multitudinous stakeholders, government and regulatory agencies, media, and anyone else with whom it is connected.
